Case study

CONTEXT:

Navico Research & Development (R&D) leaders identified that historically embedded patterns of behaviour and cultural norms were causing people to feel overwhelmed (risking employee burnout and turnover) and delaying project delivery.  They sought to cultivate an organisational environment where people could be at their best, take personal responsibility for supporting predictable delivery, and contribute the high-quality innovation that would power Navico's world-class marine electronics brands into the future.

At the same time, Navico was going through a period of great change following an acquisition and organisational restructure. The R&D Senior Leadership Team (SLT) recognised the importance of their role-modelling in nudging the wider organisational system and wanted to do their part to become a stronger, more proactive team and build a more people-centric culture.

INTERVENTION:

To support these aims, Navico R&D chose to partner with Spring Leadership and began by implementing our Democratised Coaching Programme, making coaching sessions available to everyone in R&D.

In contrast to leadership consultants that Navico R&D SLT had worked with in the past, we took the time to get to know their business, customising a leadership development programme to their needs while remaining flexible to adapt to ongoing changes in the organisational context.

RESULTS:

With our support, Navico R&D saw people thrive in their personal development, achieving palpable shifts in mindsets and behaviour. The R&D SLT also succeeded in enhancing trust, communication and collaboration, which enabled them to successfully tackle any problems that arose during a time of great organisational change.
