Case study

CONTEXT:

In response to ever changing market and client needs, Datacom executives knew it was crucial that the business continue to remain agile and adapt.

They also understood that change can be challenging for individuals.

In order to ensure people had the support they needed to be able to contribute positively and proactively to the change journey, in 2018 Managing Director of the NZ Commercial division, Vernon Kay, sought a scaleable coaching programme that employees could opt into anytime they needed.

INTERVENTION:

To support these aims, Datacom chose to partner with the team at Spring Leadership and began by implementing Spring’s Democratised Coaching Programme.

“We chose to implement the coaching program as part of our commitment to enhancing the leadership, wellbeing, and development of our people. This was especially important as our organisation was about to enter a period of change as we adapted to evolving market and client needs,” explained programme sponsor, Vernon Kay.

“The coaching program was highly praised and appreciated by our people and it added great benefits to our people and the business. The coaching program was also incredibly streamlined and easy to roll out, which freed me up to focus on other areas.”

When the COVID-19 lockdowns occurred in March 2020, the Spring team quickly adjusted to delivering all coaching sessions online via Zoom, ensuring Datacom’s people continued to have access to support while prioritising people’s health and safety.

RESULTS:

Making coaching sessions available to anyone to opt into at any time enabled Datacom to increase employee engagement, improve leadership performance, and enhance employee wellbeing and relationships across the organisation.

All in all, Spring’s Democratised Coaching Programme, “provided us with a significant return on investment,” said Kay.
